Lumary Imvisual HDMI Sync Box

Watch the full review

Smart bulbs that change colour on a schedule are a novelty. Lights that change with what is happening on the screen are something else. The Lumary Imvisual HDMI Sync Box reads the picture coming out of your console, streaming stick or set-top box and pushes the colour at the edges of the frame into the lights around the room, in real time.

The room follows the screen

A blue underwater scene turns the wall blue; an explosion flashes the ceiling orange. The screen stops being a bright rectangle in a dark room and becomes the centre of a lit space — which is most of the reason people build a home cinema in the first place.

Fast enough that you never notice the lag

The box samples at up to 240Hz, so the lighting lands with the frame rather than a beat behind it. A slow sync box is worse than no sync box; this is the specification that decides which one you own.

4K HDR passes through untouched

The sync box sits between your source and the TV and passes 4K HDR through without degrading it, so you are not trading picture quality for lighting.

It drives Zigbee lights, not just a strip

The kit syncs the included TV backlight and the smart recessed lights together, so the effect covers the whole wall and ceiling instead of a thin glow behind the panel.

App or voice

Scenes, brightness and modes come from the Lumary app, or by voice when your hands are full of popcorn.

Everything needed is in the box

Sync box, smart recessed lights, smart TV LED backlight, power adapter and HDMI cable — no shopping list of extras before it works.
