Count the remotes on your coffee table. TV, soundbar, set-top box, streaming stick, maybe an AC — and every evening starts with finding the right one. The SofaBaton U3 replaces the lot with a single remote that has a screen on it, so you pick the device you want and the buttons become that device’s buttons.

It speaks both IR and Bluetooth

This is where cheaper universal remotes fall down: they only do infrared, so a Bluetooth streaming box is out of reach. The U3 does both — a strong IR emitter for televisions, amplifiers and set-top boxes, plus pairing with up to three Bluetooth devices you can switch between instantly. An optional R1 IR repeater extends the infrared reach to gear hidden in a cabinet or in another room.

The 2.4-inch screen is what makes it usable

Instead of memorising which colour button means what on which device, the LCD shows you. Brightness is adjustable and the wake behaviour is configurable, so it lights up when you pick it up and stays dark on the table.

Macros: one button, the whole evening

In the SofaBaton app you can remap the physical buttons to whatever you actually use, then build macros — a single “Movie Night” press that turns on the TV, wakes the soundbar, switches to the right input and dims things down. “Good Night” shuts it all off again. This is the feature that turns a universal remote from a convenience into the only remote anyone in the house touches.

Air mouse for the boxes that need a cursor

Android TV, Google TV and many projectors have interfaces that fight against a d-pad. The built-in air mouse lets you point and move a cursor instead, which makes browsers and awkward apps on those devices workable rather than painful.

The buttons are backlit for a dark room, and the whole thing charges over USB-C — no hunting for AAAs. Voice control works with compatible Bluetooth devices and Google Assistant.
